The Arab Media Industry’s Permanent Engine

The Arab media industry has never had a permanent, shared infrastructure for professional development. UBN was built to change that. Uniting the region’s top universities with the world’s leading broadcast technology partners, UBN addresses challenges no single station or university can solve alone. Together, they form a fully integrated system that delivers continuous training, technical expertise, and operational guidance across the entire Arab media ecosystem. Through a 24/7 specialized media channel, hands-on training, and a real-time digital platform, UBN is built to equipjournalists, producers, engineers, and media leaders to operate at the highest professional standards. By modernizing broadcast systems and implementing practical solutions, the UBN infrastructure is built to serve 410,000 media professionals across all 22 Arab countries. Available free of charge — on air, online, and on demand — across every platform professionals already use. This is permanent infrastructure — setting standards, building workforce capacity, and securing the future of Arab media.

A Message from the Founder

My father often reminded me of the Arab world’s extraordinary contributions to civilization. But he always added a warning: “We are not contributing enough today.”

He believed our situation would only change once we admitted our failures. So I looked for the gap.

The region that gave the world its first command to read — Ummat Iqra’a — now consumes more screen time than almost anywhere else. But screen time is not knowledge. Scrolling is not growing. The content is everywhere; the depth is missing.

That realization became my mission.

I traveled the world to find pioneers who believed in education as a catalyst for change. Together we built MEB. We launched the region’s first HD television station — among the first in the world, surpassed only by the United States, Europe, and Japan. But a mission does not end. It evolves.

UBN is that mission made permanent. A 24/7 channel, a knowledge platform, and a hands-on academy. All free. All built for the professional — from the journalist in Cairo to the engineer in Riyadh to the graduate in Casablanca.

The Arab world has the talent. Now it finally has the engine to match.

When the professional grows, the entire industry prospers. And when the industry prospers, the society follows.

Our Vision

A permanently strengthened Arab media industry — where professionals operate at the highest global standards and credible information reaches every corner of the region. When media professionals excel, the impact extends far beyond the industry: people make better decisions, communities grow stronger, and societies are empowered to shape their own future. UBN exists to build that world — and to make it permanent.

02

Our Mission

UBN exists to give the Arab media industry what it has never had: a permanent, independent infrastructure for professional development. We bridge the gap between academic theory and operational reality — delivering continuous learning, practical guidance, and cross-industry collaboration that empowers professionals and sustains credible, high-quality media across the Arab world.

Our Motto

From Broadcasters To Broadcasters

We are your colleagues. We have worked in this industry, built its infrastructure, and lived its challenges from the inside. Everything UBN delivers — every program, training session, and partnership — is our commitment to providing media professionals across the Arab world the very best. We are scaling a proven reality because you deserve nothing less. Free to watch. Free to access. Free to train. On every platform. Across all 22 Arab countries.

Our Promise to the Industry

Strong institutions are defined by the principles that protect their vision over time. UBN is being built deliberately as a permanent institution designed to serve the Arab media industry for generations — not as a temporary project shaped by personalities, funding cycles, or political environments.

From the beginning, UBN will operate under a formal set of bylaws governing its editorial standards, governance, and operations. These bylaws exist for one purpose: to protect the mission from political, ideological, or commercial influence — regardless of who leads the organization in the future.

UBN will be guided by a Board of Directors composed of the most distinguished and experienced leaders from across the Arab media industry. This board will safeguard professional standards, oversee governance, and ensure the organization remains accountable to the industry it serves — not to any single funder, partner, or individual.

The leadership of UBN will ultimately be chosen by the professionals it serves. Verified members of the industry will elect the organization’s principal leadership through a transparent, technology-enabled process. The founders establish the principles. The industry decides who carries them forward.

Radical transparency will be maintained on the non-profit side of UBN’s operations. Funding sources, allocations, and expenditures will be openly reported. Because an organization asking the industry to trust it must be willing to be seen completely.

This is not a platform built around personalities. It is an institution built around principles
